I didnt expect lots from the X-Box, and I dont think we were given it either. Plus this caught my eye : The electronics giant announced May 28 that it will ship a new version of the PlayStation 2, called PSX -- which comes with its own hard drive and proprietary operating system -- sometime in the first quarter of 2004. I think the phrase 'cannot wait' fits perfectly :) Are we ever going to see PS online in the UK? Personally, the thought of Tekken being brought into the world of online gaming has me foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog :D Bigjakkstaffa 06-12-2003, 03:45 PM I've always found myself being a Sony fan through-and-through, when it comes to consoles.. Hah, i think even less of the PS2 than i do the Xbox, its laughable --Jakk:t Radi0h3ad 06-12-2003, 06:55 PM I was a little dissapointed with it at launch, the games that were available were shall we say, less than decent. I like it though... it's variety got better, but i think it's slacking again at the moment. There aren't many games being released that are screaming , 'Buy me!" :) Optimus Prime 06-13-2003, 04:15 AM I like the PS2 and GCN simply because it competes with the XBOX, i really, really hate the XBOX now and microshaft even more. There is no need, they destroyed HALO, it should have been released LAST YEAR for the PC only, now it's being released this year when HALO 2 should have been released, I am sick of MS and the XBOX, all i can say is, go SONY and NINTENDO, put a stop to that MS giant. MS will ruin the pc gaming scene, look at the quality of games... they would be so much better if they weren't ported to the PC via the XBOX. rzarektah 06-13-2003, 08:45 AM WHats the point hatin microsoft just cos theyre successful, if you actually played the xbox, youd know that its actually a great console. MS is a successful company, deal with it! Bigjakkstaffa 06-13-2003, 11:52 AM Consoles, use em as a door stop yes, play games on them... --Jakk:t Radi0h3ad 06-13-2003, 01:08 PM I'll always choose a computer over a console but a console can provide a bit of light entertainment... Few friends, few beers, a few multiplayer games. I can think of better things to be doing, but I can also think of alot worse :) Optimus Prime 06-13-2003, 01:31 PM Originally posted by rzarektah WHats the point hatin microsoft just cos theyre successful, if you actually played the xbox, youd know that its actually a great console. MS is a successful company, deal with it! Let me say it again, for those who have difficulty understanding simple language phrases. I hate MS because the games they have on their console (most of them anyway) are from the PC, they were intended to go on the PC in the first place, but NOOOO, MS had to deal their money around and **** up the whole PC gaming industry, the problem is, they try and stop the games from ever being released on the PC, games like HALO for instance. The XBOX is a bastardised PC, and it's the worst out of the three IMO, i don't like any of the games on it either. "Being successful?" by slaughtering the PC gaming industry by throwing money around isn't being successful. Being successful is releasing original games on your console is original, not using other people's imaginations and creativity. v0rTeX 06-13-2003, 02:17 PM Personally, I have a GC and will not bother getting the other two anytime soon. The PS2 lacks in hardware capabilities compared to GC and XBox, but the main reason more people have them (and also the reason the hardware isn't as good) is that it came out a year earlier. Now software is the important thing. Hardware matters but only if the games use it. I don't have alot of experience with the other systems but I did play NHL Hitz 20-02 on all three systems. The PS2 version just aggravated me. Slower frame rate, rougher characters, and it just wasn't good eye candy. GC and Xbox looked almost identical from what I could tell but the Box's controller feels like a steering wheel in my hands. I've got fairly long fingers but those two buttons at the far reach of the thumbs is too much. Oh yeah, and I dont really care for MS so that helps me not to buy an Xbox. I have seen alot of good first party and second party games for the GC but barely any that interested me for the others. Halo is the one exception since I love FPS games like Perfect Dark. But alas, I have metroid prime anyway. Havent played a game that involving in a while. I think when the next set of consoles come out, and mind you they are all trying to make sure they hit the shelves at the same time, it will be a little more interesting to see who's outselling who then. :) Radi0h3ad 06-13-2003, 04:50 PM I used to like Nintendo. When I was 12. The games that Nintendo tend to bring out ( feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here, I'm only speaking from my own personal experience ) are aimed at a lower age group in general. I'm not saying it's a 'kids' machine, but the games that it seems to pump out are always a little too cute and cuddly for me. I got a PS1 when it was first released in the UK and I took a liking to it because the games were aimed at a slightly higher age group. ( Alien Trilogy, GTA, Tekken 2, etc ) Therefore I was pretty much converted to a Sony supporter when it came to consoles. The GC doesn't appeal to me at all, and the X-Box wasn't something I was really interested in as when it first came out, I had a computer already and I figured it was just going to be a cheap way of playing computer games. I still havent seen anything from MS on the X-Box which has impressed me enough to buy one. I still have the PS2, but it's gathering dust a little. :) Brytak 06-13-2003, 05:42 PM I just can’t get my head round the reasoning behind Microsoft building a stand alone game console in the first place! (Of curse it’s to compete with Sony and Nintendo…and more important…more money) What I mean is why did a PC oriented company build a console that has a limited (compared to PC) number of games even if it can be played online (at premium call rates)…if I want to play a game online I use my PC that’s the way it was! Is! And always will be! My opinion is that the Xbox would vastly improve if it could be played online alongside PC games…It does use a modified version of windows like the Sega dreamcast did doesn’t it? Would it be very hard to marry them up and allow cross console/PC gaming? BTW… did anyone who had a Dreamcast play any games online for a long time? I tried it for half an hour and thought it was a waste of time! Radi0h3ad 06-13-2003, 07:55 PM BTW… did anyone who had a Dreamcast play any games online for a long time? Soul Caliber.. that's it :( EDIT - Sorry, I just re-read your post, you said 'online'. No, I didnt... :p ch0wdy^ 06-14-2003, 04:20 PM Half of all my dreamcast games were online and 9/10 of my DC time was with Phantasy Star Online v1, NFL2k2, Alien Front Online, or some other online games. That console owned. comp_nut 06-14-2003, 07:51 PM its all about money.no matter how you hate ms you wouldn't be here without them do you remember apple on top of the heap,no whey nothing for the masses end of story:D SysOpt.com
