Warm enough to leave a fairly warm spot on a woodem Desk.....Whats your opinion.........And do you Have any ideas for cooling it? r8500 06-09-2003, 02:23 PM I wouldn't think that heat would cause it to slow down. If your concerned, you could try mounting a case fan to the modem, that should cool it down. r8500 06-09-2003, 02:24 PM BTW, where in PA do you live? Jijstcriusen 06-09-2003, 02:27 PM Just Outside of wilkes-barre....Ever Hear of it? r8500 06-09-2003, 02:28 PM Yeah, I live in Pittsburgh, your only about 500 miles away, lol Midknyte 06-09-2003, 02:28 PM I never heard of anything specific, but extra cooling couldn't hurt. :) Jijstcriusen 06-09-2003, 02:29 PM Oh,,,,N how would i pwoer the fan....would the modems power supply handle a case fan? Jijstcriusen 06-09-2003, 02:31 PM Well dont ever visit,,theres nothen here.........lol r8500 06-09-2003, 02:33 PM You could get a really long extension for a plug from your psu, and get an adapter for a case fan, and then when your computer is on, the fan would run. Jijstcriusen 06-09-2003, 02:38 PM not a bad idea....but im networked....amd i dont leave my computer on all the time......maybe i'll see what kinda power supplies i can dig up.....see if they can handle a case fan for long periods of time Bigjakkstaffa 06-09-2003, 02:53 PM An old PSU from an ancient machine plugged into the wall and hooked up to a standard case fan which is attached to the modem should do the trick i'd have thought --Jakk:t Jijstcriusen 06-09-2003, 05:48 PM Thanks for the i deas...........we'll see how it works out AllGamer 06-09-2003, 05:52 PM Yes that definitely works we were just talking about it last week me and this other guy in this other thread have some pictures and all :t matthew13l 06-12-2003, 04:31 AM Originally posted by Jijstcriusen When a Dsl Modem Heats up....can it slow bandwith???? I have a 92mm top case fan, and my dsl modem sits next to it on top of my case. When I'm downloading stuff for awhile and the download speed seems to slow, I put the dsl modem over the case fan. There are vents on the top and bottom of the modem, and it gets very cool in about 3 minutes. It's just a dumb superstition of mine. omendata 06-12-2003, 11:03 AM You could try a water cooling kit!!! Turbo supercooled modem. :D Sounds like you may have a power issue - how hot is it getting. Doesnt affect cable modems but does for DSL. SysOpt.com
