I wouldn't think that heat would cause it to slow down. If your concerned, you could try mounting a case fan to the modem, that should cool it down.

I never heard of anything specific, but extra cooling couldn't hurt. :)

You could get a really long extension for a plug from your psu, and get an adapter for a case fan, and then when your computer is on, the fan would run.

not a bad idea....but im networked....amd i dont leave my computer on all the time......maybe i'll see what kinda power supplies i can dig up.....see if they can handle a case fan for long periods of time

An old PSU from an ancient machine plugged into the wall and hooked up to a standard case fan which is attached to the modem should do the trick i'd have thought

I have a 92mm top case fan, and my dsl modem sits next to it on top of my case. When I'm downloading stuff for awhile and the download speed seems to slow, I put the dsl modem over the case fan. There are vents on the top and bottom of the modem, and it gets very cool in about 3 minutes. It's just a dumb superstition of mine.

You could try a water cooling kit!!!
Turbo supercooled modem.

:D

Sounds like you may have a power issue - how hot is it getting.
Doesnt affect cable modems but does for DSL.
