Are there any free services that you can make PC-To-Phone calls. I've heard rumors that one or two of the truly free ones still exist, anyone know where they are?

Thought you could use the phone dialer utility in windows with your microphone hooked to dial out, there's usually some lag but works. Friend use to call out of state with it.

Your friends aren't very smart if they think using there modem for voice calls is gonna save them from long distance charges. That is no different then plugging a phone into it and dialing with that.

yeah what orkinmann was looking for is stuff like PC 2 Phone using IP to data/analog line for FREE charges

not too many around now, it used to be free back then, now they all have charges, but still way cheaper than any telco

the one that comes with NetMeeting is "free" with restrictions

1-800 types of numbers are free

but overseas calls have minor charges
but nationcal calls in the US seems to be free, supposely

i don't use a dial up modem so "phoning" australia would be good for me. But yahoo meessenger lets you chat over the internet if you got a mike attached, needs good bandwith though and obviously the other person needs a pc.:)

Although not free, I use Net2Phone to call the US from Colombia S.A.. I can talk to my family in Seattle for 15 minutes for about $1.00 and the service is pretty good. I tried a couple of the free services and the quality was really poor.
