I am not sure I am okay posting this in this part of the forum, but what the heck. I currently have a PVR508 system with dish network. I have recorded many things onto the harddrive and now want to transfer the video (which I believe is already in mpeg2) onto a harddrive in my computer. Does anybody know how to do this? I know I could figure it out, but I would rather have some literature on it before I go hog wild and start ripping everything apart. Thanks in advance.

The Dish Network says the PVR508 has an S-Video and RCA & Dolby Digital connections on the back. You use the RCA/ DD connections for sound.
Regardless you need a capture card on the pc end. If you have an ATI AIW or a vga card with VIVO your set. If not , I'd go for the inexpensive Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP card , which is almost a PVR in itself. You could install a 3-way switch between the reciever and the PVR/ PC for more possiblities.
