If Microsoft ruled the world, what kinds of things would you expect to see?
I would expect to see hardware & software expire and require upgrades when 1.5 years have elapsed.
Microsoft OS is installed on 100% of computers, and is hack-proof, and they are a central registration database. Therefore, freeware has been eliminated. And of course, the price is an even $500.00 for 1.5 years.

hack-proof
???? I doubt it. Probably "great for you kids to learn hacking on" type of deal.
But if M$ ruled the world you would probably see a revolution to revolutionize all revolutions. Hackers of the world unite!

We'd have flying cars running off a Windows environment. Wait, make that dropping out of the air cars because of the BSOD.

Of course if they flew high enough the reboot process might save you before you hit the ground. Fuel prices would be even higher because they'd innovate everyone else out of business.
"Where do you want to go today" would replace "Hi, how are you".
When you buy a toaster, you would have to pay a licensing fee before even plugging it in. (They'd deploy seek-and-destroy technology to find non compliant toasters.)

every one would have bad hair cuts. Have you seen bills cut? 50Billion, and he can't find a barber...

NO.1 You would pay a users fee every time your computer booted up. CA-ching!
NO.2 You would prepay and get a code for so many hours of use.
NO.3 Your computer would do a Mission Impossible auto-destruct if you tried an illegal operation.
NO.4 If you loaded unauthorized software, your computer would spray you with marking dye and dial the Micro-cops to pick you up.

Warthog we already have them, they just arent mass produced yet. doesnt anyone watch discovery science channel 24\7 ?
lol microsoft does rule the world, thats why the courts tried to break it up, just for that reason.... if they ruled completly though, we could probably have somewhat good software for our advanced mice and keyboards

Actually if they did rule we'd have shocking software simply because we have no-where else to turn. It'd be slow, complicated( requiring us all to attend regular expensive lesson on windows) and it'll cost $500 a year to 'rent' the software. We's also all use IE, Microsoft Office and have MS mice and keyboards because they're the only ones that are compatible.

I don't see why microsoft is hated so much. theire operating systems are very cheap now, and so what if they can't make a perfect product? you guys put down microsoft because their operating system crashes sometimes, but i don't see anyone making anything that is compatibale with nearly everything and is so easy to use. and i don't see what this whole open-source BS is about. if someone spends countless hours working on a program, he should have the rights to the program and not get oversold by some punk kid who stole the source code made a few small improvements.

I don't hate Microsoft (much) - I just want to point out that no one company should have the lion's share of control in any area of our life or country.
If "Microlinux" was manipulating 90% of the computing industry you can bet I would be promoting "Windowsoft" at every turn.
EDIT NOTE: oh yeah, while there are some things I would never sell out on, I do have a price for some other things -for example if Microsoft offered me a mere $200K (after tax of course) to shut the h3ll up about Linux, then not one single person on the Internet would ever hear me say anything about Linux again - notice that I did not say I would quit using Linux or purchasing Linux products/software.
...but considering that M$ will never make me such an offer.... LINUX IS INCREDIBLE!
It is the year 2012, 4-years earlier Microsoft abandoned charging for and licensing its operating systems and has concentrated on perfecting application software -profits are also at an all-time high. Microsoft has just released its latest version of Windows based on Linux kernel 6.6.6, this new Windows-Linux hibrid has been code named "Windex" and features a screen saver that repels dust and leaves no streaks.
Meanwhile Debian has just released their "Kleenix" distribution based on kernel 6.4.4 that comes with a free box of tissue and bottle of Tylenol to help WinYZ-2010 users make the transition to Linux.
Also, due to the tight integration of the Nvidia SuperNova-III graphics chipset with the Intel Infinium (Pentium-XVII), and the new AMD Osirus Chip, the XFree86 project has been renamed XFree-69

I have seen clients demand a video card they will never use to it's full capabilities but pass on spending less than half the amount for an upgrade to NT or 2000. If everybody with a Microsoft OS would use only hardware and software that meets WHQL specifications, there would be fewer complaints and more praise. Why can't you use most Windows software on a Mac? Incompatible. So does that mean that Macs suck because I can't play the newest games on my G4 cube?
If Microsoft ruled the world I think we would see fewer bugs in the code. Like when Dos ruled the world.

I've seen a show about flying cars, didn't most of them crash and burn? (On the show i watched, they did http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif)
I think the only difference would be Bill Gates having about $200 billion in his bank accounts instead of just a measely $57 billion.
Solidus

Bill gates mayb have a lot of money, but he does not have 57 billion in his bank account. Almost all of it is stock, microsoft and others.
