hey guys/gals,

Have 2 questions for ya, Im over clocking my TI4600, frist of all i would like to know if i should get a diffrent cooling fan for my card or would the one thats on it be ok?

2nd is what would be your recomended over clock setting for my card it has not yet been over clocked and the setting on it right now are Core Clock speed is 300 MHz and Memory Clock speed is 648 MHZ, how higher do you think I should go?

A lot depends on the brand of your card. Some are better overclockers than others and yet they even vary among same brand names. Do a google search for "TI4600 overclocking" to get an idea of what to shoot for.

Use a program like Power Strip to test it before you flash anything. Personally I don't like flashing, so I just set Power Strip up to start w/ windows.

I would be willing to guess that your 4600 has great cooling now.

Good luck, nice card. :t

The best Nvida tweeking tool there is out there http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/

Works will ALL Nvida graphic cards, from TNT to Geforce 4's.

I just thought of something...:D

The drivers for that TI4600 should have an overclocking tool built right in. Whap me upside the head for forgetting that one.:p

Nvidia has builtin sliders for the GPU and Memory in it's drivers.
They are hidden though.

If you want to unlock them then save this text:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvTweak]
"CoolBits"=dword:00000003

save it as "coolbits.reg"

run it and it will set itself in the registry.

You will have access to the settings in
"display properties" - "settings" - "advanced" -"gforce4 ti4600"

The cooling setup on most cards is fine for o/c, im running my memory at 1/5th again ts speed without ram sinks, the only area for concern is the GPU core, but if you read my guide you shouldnt be pushing it over 50Mhz anyways

ok guys/gals I over clocled it not by that much, I was on lunch from work and needed a Hardware Fix :) when I ran 3dmark03 I got 1251 with clock set at the default setting 300 MHz and Memory Clock speed is 648 MHZ.

I then over clocked to 317 X 659 system ran fine, not laggy bits and I got a score of 1292. I will up it some more later and post what I get, one more thing, any one know of a small program I can run to check heat on the Video card?

Only option with vid cards is to buy a thermal probe and stick it as close to the GPU as you can

Don't know what you're running... other than the card. You'll have to compare it to similar systems at the Onion.

I have been able to take the memory up to 735 on my 4600. Might want to push a little bit further.

hhow high did you get your core?

I could not get my core over 317.

Bigjakkstaffa

The core shouldnt be pushed more than 50Mhz up, even with extra cooling, its also worthwhiel noting that higher memory spped will bring greater speed gains than higher GPU will

yep thats about as high as i can go,,,325/730 runs nice though,,people say you cant tell the diffrence, hell I can, but this is funny, I benched it on 3dmark03 it ran really smoth on 350/730 really nice, so i thought well thats cool, I went and ran UT2003 it ran ****, really bad, graphics got totaly chopping, froze, so i had to go down, bt its running good now, so thanks a mill for all ur help guys/gals if any.:t
