IE6 causing IPF in user.exe

This is driving me nuts now, so hopefully some kind soul will help me :)

IE6 is constantly crashing with the following message:-

I'm using Win98 SE with IE6. Running applications are Zone Alarm, AVG, Webshots, Winamp, Hook99 and NProtect, but I've tried shutting down all of these and it's makes no difference.

I've done a search for possible solutions and have tried these:-
- repairing IE
- updating to the latest Java console
- reinstalling IE6, from a differant CD than the original
- shutting down Zone Alarm
- Reinstalling Zone Alarm and AVG
But nothing has helped and I'm now really pis... sorry, fed up :mad:

How many ram strips are you using? If you have 2 try them one at a time or borrow a strip from elsewhere if you only have one, ram could be going bad and IE likes to use alot of ram especially if you keep opening alot of IE windows.

Does the rest of your sys act normal when not using IE gaming, word, etc.?

Hi, thanks for your replies.
I ran Ad-Aware yesterday, it found some new ones, but IE's still crashing.
I've got one strip of 512Mb RAM from Crucial. I'll try and borrow a srtip of my brother and see if that makes any difference (hopefully it won't, cos I've not got any money ;) )
Nothing else seems to be affected. I use Frontpage, Word, PhotoImpact, Incredimail and Doom a lot, and none of those crash.

I may have neglected to mention that I was using Toolbar Wallpaper. Anyway I removed that and I've not had any problems since (touch wood).
