I still reckon we'll see doom 3 this year on the Pc, because if they dont get it out with HL2, everyone will lose interest in it. The release date sounds right for an Xbox as if they wanna make it truly liek the PC version theyre gonna have to spend a hulluva long time optimising and rejigging the engine

It won't look as good on a tv unless it's high definition right? I mean and xbox won't run it on a normal tv at 1024x768 or higher res right? Plus i thought doom3 was going to take advantage of all those new fancy directx9 features..xbox doesn't have that capability does it?

I dont think they will have any trouble with the TV using the res on the game, Im sure they have looked and figured out that one, but the console will run it just like PC or so they say they will be optimising and rejigging the engine totaly for the console to Smash out the same graphics as a pc, I dont think its going to be %100 like the PC but I would say its going to be pretty dame close :) I think from what I Saw a week back, the only reason its comming out on Xbox and not PS2 and GCube is the fact that the Xbox is way more powerfull than both of them :), i dont think the Xbox has that dx9 going for it, but im sure they have done something else, needless to say you can install windows XP on your Xbox, did you know that? :)

yep windows XP, I have done it :) using Linux to do it :)
but!! Linux is the #1 choice. Mainly because its open source and easier to modify to work with the xbox.
you can emulate Windows under Linux. I've heard its fast enough to use MS office programs but thats all I've heard.
There is Wine which is a Windows program emulator. It works with quite a few Windows 95 programs. The best of entertainment pack is a good example of what works. (jezz-ball, ski-free, rodents revenge, pipe dream...that stuff)
I'm sure a few other less heard-of operating systems would work like free-bsd. (though I havn't heard of such a project)
Linux is pretty good though. I've never used linux on my xbox but I have used it on my pc's. I think the 64mb of ram is probably very limiting because I've never got computers with 64mb of ram to work good with linux in a graphical mode. But I'm not a linux expert or anything just a window cleaner :)
