I recently built my own system and I've run into a slight quirk. The DFI AD77 Infinity motherboard only automatically detects CPU's up to 1800, and I'm using an AMD Athlon XP 2400. Is it just listing that number, or is it really running at that speed? If so, how do I adjust the BIOS? (I've just recently flashed it with the most recent BIOS) Please enlighten me.:D

set the speed to 133 or 166 if that does not help, or if you have no Manual way
then, you'll need a BIOS upgrade

make sure you know which PCB version you have

Recheck the jumper settings on the mobo. There are some jumpers on that mobo that might not be set correctly! Yes, DFI still has some jumpers on that model of mobo! Check with the manual to see if it is set to recognize the FSB for your particular CPU. Good luck.

It should be right. Download Sisoft Sandra Std (it's free) and check it. :t

Change the front side bus/CPU frequency to 133Mhz and the multiplier to 15x

OK... I'm confused...
Is the boot screen showing 2400+ or 2400 actual mhz?
If it's showing 2400+ it should be running at 2000 actual mhz (15x133) stock.
If it's showing 2400 actual mhz ya got one hell of an overclocker.:D

zitro - what does it say when you start up??
is there a way to set 'front side bus' 'system bus' 'cpu multiplier' 'cpu frequency' or 'cpu speed' in the BIOS??

It says 1800+, but I have a 2400+. I would love for my system to say I have more than that, ie overclocking, but for now I just want to figure out how to change it.:r
Check it w/ a program like Sandra. It'll tell ya what ya need to know.
DFI did put out a newbie proof bios for that board. So...That bios may not overclock that thing, or give you options. You'll just have to try it to find out. If not you'll just have to search till you find one. DFI may send you one for overclocking if you sound like you know what you're talking about.
