I'm having issues with the MSS32.dll not registering properly for running either of these games. I've tried countless versions of the dll off the web, but it just doens't seem to want to work. Any suggestions?

I'm running W2K...here's what I get...

The procedure entry point _AIL_set_3D_sample_distances@12 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll

Any thoughts or ideas at all?

What sound card are you running?

If you look in device manager, do you see any problems with your sound card? Have you tried reinstalling your sound card drivers? You might also look at the configuration of your sound card.

Running a standard SoundBlaster 16 PCI, which doesn't have any discrepancies at all. I'll give a shot at upgrading the drivers though to see what thay may do. Thanks.

Sound card drivers didn't do anything, so I did a fresh install after removing every trace of the DLL and now it's working fine...appears I had a bad DLL somewhere on my machine :)

"The procedure entry point _AIL_set_3D_sample_distances@12 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll"

Drawing distance would have to do with video. And Id say d3d run .dll by the looks of it. Looks like yer dx went south and got corupted.

Thanks $1500, I may have to check my dx install and see how it's faring as well. I've had some issues with dx9 and a couple other games, so I've been trying to hold back...but I may have to update that soon too :)

I really thought it was sound after seeing mss32.dll. I know that mss is "miles sound system" but in retrospect, the error clearly states that it was calling a dll that was not where it was supposed to be. Thinking of this, it was either the games calling a dll that was missing or the games had the incorrect dll. I would have to assume the former here due to the fact it would an amazing coincidence to have two games with an incorrect dll.

I think you did the right thing reformatting. Chasing errors like this is futile.

you got 2 choices

1. install new sound card 3D drivers
