I've always wondered if it would be cost effective for manufacturers to include small eeprom circuits on cards just like on motherboards, that way you dont have to search through a mountain of cd's to find that one driver at 3 in the morning. And if it was flashable then you would also have the latest copy handy.

you have a few risk in doing that though. Like if a begginer messes up the flash. you could reset it, but it would be annoying. Also if the power went out wouldn't you lose the driver?

If that stuff could be fixed though, it would be pretty nice!
