NEC E606 Mobile Phone

Hi all,

I know this is off topic, but does anybody know of a website that has utilities to unlock the NEC E606 mobile phone.

I have bought one on the 3G network, and have been having a play with it.

Great phone but has a few drawbacks, the maximum MIDI file size allowed to be downloaded is something like 20K, which is annoying, when the good ones are around 30-50k in size, So I need a utility to increase the file limit on the transfer software (or phone)

Also, I cannot fid any Java games for it (3G charge you per game you play, even offline), there should be some compatable phone that I can download purchased games for that'll work, but I cannot find any info regarding this on the net.

they charge something like 50 pence every three days you have each game installed irrospective of if you play them or not.

I'm not asking for anything illegal, as the software alows you to download games directly from you pc to the phone, but if I am going to buy some on the net then I need to make sure they emulate the nec keys.

Unlocking in general is a term used for adding the ability to change networks....... Just a thought :r :r

I just got the same handset, and im finding the same problems.....i may have to return it under the 14 day returns policy...... there is a distinct lack of apps of any sort for this handset, i cant decide if this is because its reletively new, or because its an NEC.

Everything seems geared towards the symbian OS and Nokia phones.

Ah well.... 12 days and counting to find something worth downloading..... or its going back :)



EDIT - even if i manage to find anything decent to download.....i have no idea how to upload it to the phone lol.... the software that comes with it doesnt support uploading apps. >_<

Unfortunatly, I missed the 14 day return, (was going to sell it on Ebay but have since dropped it and have a scratch on its side, DOHHHH).

Anyway, I assume you are using the 3G network in the UK, if so you are stuffed in regards to downloading JAVA apps, as 3G have walled their net connectivity, so you CANNOT get to the internet at all, and are limited to thier 3 day purchase policy.

Not a happy chappie..... They don't advertise that on tv.

That 'net thing sucks.

Yeh im UK.... the only real reason i went with 3 was the amazing 750 mins cross network package..... but being stuck with this sucky handset for a year might just outweigh the benefits of 750 mins.

I still have my contract with Orange, but it runs out soon so im due an upgrade...... so i think the Nokia 3650 is my next purchase.

1st for somebody who is planning to get that contract (which is the only thing that is ok...) GET a p800 pnone.. unlock 4 USIM use and that is just the best way forward..

Im sorry.. But if you are like me, i.e a person who simply cant stand the RULEs and doesnt believe in only 1 way( or 1 button(like the Apple computers specially made for I.d.i.o.t.s)) u will simply hate the phone..

Yes NEC .. i think the only thing they can produce is CRD monitors the rest is just...., not even worth looking at.. but then again, it cold be that 3G have asked nec to make the phone as rubish as that..

Bluethooth SUCKS - u cant connect 2 pnones 2gether which meansu cant have a multiplay game via bluetooth or transfer data form 1phone to another..

GAMES and Apps... - i just want to c them ppl who created it and throw a brick in their face.. U CANT INSTALL APPLICATIONS FROM THE SOFTWARE THEY PROVIDE U.. so.. u can only download it using your phone....!?! GAMES...... OMFG.. the only decent game that i can find right now is Alien Swarm .. and since i get 20 squid free to spend i dont mind spending some credit.. but WAIT A SEC.. THEM M****R F**kers made that game online.. so.. that means i have to PAY not just the time i download it.. BUT EVERY TIME I PLAY IT.. +.. i go to work on the underground.. and can i play games there.. COME ON ... THEY ARE NOT THAT STUPID TO MAKE THEM PLAY ONLY WHILE U ARE IN A 3G SERVICE...COME ON.. they are not that stupid.. ARE THEY????... AND THE ANSWER IS>>>>>> YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS THEY ARE!!!!!! BATTERY -- Nice and small.. START BATTERY USE: 10am: you could make about a 5min normal phone call.. play with the camera for a bit.. start adding contacts to ur phone.. and guess what.. by 4PM the battery is already dying on u.. i mean.. come on.. how CR*P is that???.. fair enuf u get 2 batteries.. but both of them are so small.. y didnt they make just 1 double battery.. would have made so much more sence..!!!

3G Signal Strenght - is bit ****.. i was like in zone 3 or 4.. and it just didnt want to make a phone call at all. show the blody arial bar on 4 then goes to 0.. just stupid and not good at all..

GOOD POINTS... Camera looks cool and i like the way are contacts made... finally the sms is bit more like NOKIA.,
U GET 2 power supplies.. trust me u will need 1 at home and 1 at work..every single day!!!

Oh, yeah. and about the carphone warehouse..flipping hell.. train your staff how to use the blody phones.. i mean.. COME On.. they are as dumb as hell.. dont know sh*te... i heard the phones 4u are the same.. !!!!


im gonna google for stuff for the phone.. if i fidn something good.. ill let u all know.. but i doubt there will be anything in the next month or so..

oooooh.... so if i can lay my hands on that p800, i can sell my crappy e606 and stick the p800 on three and keep my 750 mins deal ?

Is there an answer for my question, if NEC e606 works with russian SIM Cards?

Some e606-user say it does, some not.

I've heard there's some USIM-LOCK or somethin'. What is it and how can I be sure if my future cellular will work?

One quick note, Not relating to the phone itself but to the service provider.

I have been having problems with my account and am currently barred, ( as they had lost a direct debit mandate form with all my details on it!!!!:eek: ), so far within the last two weeks I have been put on hold for over 7 hours in total ( including three hours last night, which I finally put the phone down just before 10:00pm.

Additionally it is my understanding that as a regulated business, if I ask for the regulator phone number they are required to supply it (which they wouldn't, insofar as to say they even denighed having a complaints department).

Is it just me that is having this problem, or are any of you having similar complaints.

I'm asking this, as, if I don't get any further help by the end of the week I'm contacting the regulator directly.

Has anyone got their bluetooth working yet???

My phone goes onto bluetooth standby then does nothing. My friend's phoen does the same. Is it just for PC communicatons or can we have phone-phone comms.

Also I can seem to be able to send .mid down my usb cable. It says illegal handset request or something. Pictures go down fine.

Any thoughts?

I know there is a special feature with the phones that bluetooth only partially works (I think only to pc, and not even to a bluetooth headset!!)

as for midi, there two things you need to be aware of (well three actually), firstly, you will need to download some composing software I use NoteWorthy Composer as you will need to save the files as type 0 midi (otherwise you will get that error on your transfer software), secondly you have a maximum file size of only 20k so you will need to crop some of end off your music if has many channels (you will also get the error message if the file is too big), also, even though the phone has 32mb of available memory, it limits you to something like 300k for midi files.

Finally, (just remembered) the phone hasn't got proper polyphonic sounds, so what some great on your pc, may some **** on the phone, it just takes a little bit of playing around.

Yes to all of the above, and another thing....

Do 3 allow the use of the phone as a 3g modem connected to a PC. I've tried the software, but DUN always comes back with a 'hardware failure'.

Is this feature 'on' or is it another example of 3 minimising usefulness ;)

Where did you locate the information about midi file types and size limits. I can't find it in any of the poor documentation I got from 3...or anywhere else for that matter. The NEC site is pretty poor too.

Hi Banjo,

I trawled the net for NEC 606 / 3g forums, I can't remember where I found the info, but I have been adding Midi files etc. for quite some this.

This is going to stop now, as I've had such a run in with my IP (you know who I mean), that they have agreed to buy the phone back, So I've now cancelled the line and waiting for them to send a prepaid courier bag to collect the camera.

There's 1 way to unlock your e606:

where xxxxxxxx is something like 67382938.

The main problem is how to find out what is xxxxxxxx.
