K, so i'm planning on getting a cable modem VERY SOON! Now I don't know all that much about them, cuz' i've never set one up, or basically used one for that matter.. other than it goes from the incoming cable, to a modem, to a NIC.. From what i've read, you can't share a cable connection with two computers.. because you've only got one IP address, unless you rent a second IP.. WHY?!? I can use win98 ICS with only one IP, and it works just fine..
I've been looking at those Cable/DSL Routers.. Would you need 2/3/4 IP's depending on the number of computers connected to the router?
How does this all work.. I don't want to have to rent a second IP address just to have a second computer hooked up to the same connection.. There's got to be a way to share the connection with 2/3/4 computers all connected to a normal networking HUB.
Thx,
Shadal
