I'm looking to buy a webcam for home for some teleconferencing with the Grandparents 400 miles away. We both have broadband (DSL and cable respectively)
Anyone with any advice on what to stay away from or where I should be lookin' (USB, Firewire, etc.). I'm thinking that firewire is the way to go but have 0 experience in the webcam area.
I saw something (software/cable package) that allows you to convert your own digital camera (with firewire connection) into a webcam, any thoughts?
At the same time I have to buy a new setup for the grandparents so they can get on the other end of the call. What are the minimum standards I should be looking at so this new computer isn't outdated in 1 year? I don't know if I want to spend the effort putting one together for them being that they are so far away and servicing it would be a pain.
Thanks all in advance:t
