Octinium(?) for those who don't know, is the new cheat deterrent that makes videos of the user's screen while playing games like CS, so when the video is sent it will show a wallhack being used which could be hidden by a demo. It will also show GUI menus used for cheats while playing online games. ( Aimbot, etc )
Is there a way to sufficiently edit the .avi prior to sending, to hide a cheat?
Not that I cheat, I'm just curious!!!!!

I've seen this program, and used it. It seems like it could very well be a final solution to cheating. ( In official clan ladder matches anyway. Public servers will be still choking with cheaters. )

Rather than be one of these programs like cheating death, which tries to nullify the actual cheat, and constantly playing cat & mouse with the new cheats coming out, Octinium just basically says:
"Ok fine, use the cheats. Just know everyone will know about it when you're asked for the demos". It's thought of a way around an unsolvable problem, rather than struggling to think of a linear solution, like destroying the cheat altogether.

I like Octinium and I think it's really going to take off well.

A bit too much like bolting the stable door after the horse has fled though

there are always new ways to cheat, in any game, and in any form

that's why i don't bother with FPS games

RTS games at least if you cheat everybody knows for sure

but in FPS, you have no easy way to prove it, although you know they are.

My theory on cheating is that at least 75% of the time, the person is actually very good rather than cheating. I have a friend, and ive watched him play and he doesn't cheat, but he's been banned from multiple servers for cheating, and gets accused nearly every time he plays online (he plays CS mostly) but the fact is, he's just better than the people he's playing against and the people can't take it and accuse him of cheating to get around their own lack of skills.

Anyhow, this thing sounds pretty good to me, for clan matches it could be used to provide a deterrent for cheating, and for players like greg, it could be used to prove that you aren't cheating.. lol

hopefully it will be used in RvS matches as well. The cheats are getting out of hand, and this game isnt even that old.
