Hello,

I am like most of you, a heavy user of the PC and I can’t imagine doing many tasks without it. I know it brings speed, access to variety of sources and something I do not like – alienation. Kids do not play any more outside as before, we rather share more and more moments through chats rooms and so on ….

I do not want to start a pool, I just want to hear your opinion how to balance benefits and sort of alienation and can we do anything at all to change a way our life.

Hmm, good question, how can you balance it properly, when we first got a computer at our house we were each assigned a few hours of the day each to spend on the computer and that was it. When it was your turn u used it to you hearts content and when the time was up you complained until you were pulled off by force. I guess the main other thing I did was play sport. I really enjoyed playing sport so my suggestion would be to try and get them interested in something else, I'd drop playin the computer any time and go Indoor rockclimbing or Ten pin bowling. Maintaining an active interest in other things means the PC is on a lower priority and hence is only used when something better isn't available.
