You gotten your mits on the CMR3 demo yet?
Very very good, not quite as arcadey as CMR2, but more satisfying and realistic methinks

Wheels are ****???? You got to be kidding. I couldn't see getting any enjoyment out of a racing game without one. I love my momo. It would be like playing a fps using a joystick!!! It ain't natural and your gonna burn in hell for saying so.haha

Keys allow for much better control IMo, theyre not as over sensetive as wheels are, try playing sumink like colin mcrae on a wheel, bam, boom, bam, plus its a pain in the *** to correct over and under steer on a wheel IMO
All in all, expensive paper weights :p

Are you gonna install a keyboard in your own car and get rid of your steering wheel?

now theres an idea!
I love my wheel, well I did before it broke. It adds something else to the game and is quite cool. I love it in CM2 tho other games such as Toca it was quite hard...
The problem is that games are designed for the keyboard/joypad (digital) not a digital device so ultimately Steering Wheels suffer :(

I dont own a car :p
I reckon Wheels are okay for the crappy arcade racers where you can go bouncing off anytihgin and everything and you just put your foot down and hang on for dear life without really needing to break (SEGA rally anyone?), but for games where youve actually got to be able to steer the car i find them to be more of a hinderance than a help

Try a decent wheel with force feedback and thiers no comparision. Get a game with good force feedback support and your in heaven. cm2 was great, but rally trophy better and ralisport challenge rocked. I was so looking forward to cm3, but played the demo today and must say it's sh*t. Not much of an improvement at all. Maybe all you keyboard gamers that don't care about realizm will like but i think I'll pass on this one.

CM3 is the shizzo, finally rid of the really arcadey handbrake turns around corners, if you've ever been to watch a real rally you'll notice how the drivers whack the breaks on before the corners and then accelerate through and out of them and out, its vary rare that they can manage to pull of a powerslide unless theyve got plenty of room to swing wide. Admittedly CM3 does take some gettign used to but it is very very satisfying when it comes off right. I also like the fact theyve tightened up the tracks a bit too, more realistic in that aspect. Its also much harder to correct fgrom under and over steer which is a nice feeling as you wrestle for dear life to get the front end into line before you go head on into a tree. Lets just say i'll be gettign this.
Rallisport  i played a demo of that once, put your finger on the accelorator key and just turn it round the corners, brakes, no need for brakes.. its SEGA Rally allover again )-|

Oh btw, play CM3 in the bonnet view point, the third person view sucked in CM2 and does here and the cockpit view althoguh better than CM2's is nowhere near as good as CM's was

Thats your problem "you put your finger on the acelerater key", I put my foot on the gas petal!!!

Whatever )-|
Either way it was another generic boring arcade jobbie
Back to CM3, theyve made Sweden challening again hurrah :D. Admittedly its not as tough as it was in CM, but it beats the heck out of sweden in CM2 which to be honest was far too easy :(

Boy was I wrong. I had to do some tweaking to get my wheel to function right and man was it worth it. The game defaulted my deedzone way off! Demos!! Great force feedback. I will surely pick up when it comes out. Sweden was my fav. track. Can't wait to try the rest.
Thanks Jakk for convincing me to take a second look.:t

:D
Im a big fan of the swedish rally, in real life because every time they go there Tommi Makkinen really gets his teeth into it, and in CM1 its the only truly challenging area of the game, in CM2 its ridicuolously easy but jolly good fun because all you do is put the car side on and let it side all the way through the track, and in CM3 they look to have gotten th ebalance between the two. Also i think the snowdrifts are more realistic before, in real rallys the drivers use em as braking assists and to 'bounce' em around corners.
All in all this looks very good and the representation of the Uk rally is probably the best ive seen since CM1.
I was thinkign of another WRC game i played a couple fo years ago that you migh thave liked, it was **** **** hard and the tracks were a little narrow, it was the sort of game that took about a week to aclimbitize yourself to the physics in, but it was darn good fun, shame i cant remember its name :(
Enjoy :t

Hey Jakk, have you played "Rally Trophy"? It's a few years old, but the best handling of any racing game i've played. And the graphics even today are breath taking. You race all classic rally cars. A must play for any rally fan.

Probably pick up in a cheap bin by now. I got it from a friend.

Was it Mobil 1 Rally Championship??? That was a great game!
Anyways, I agree with you in everything you said. Games have really become boring and "arcadish". All you have to do is accelerate and turn, no brakes, no oversteering, no nothing.
And you can have the best wheel of the whole world, but you'll never beat an "experienced keyboarder" :P
Long live CMR1 and Test Driver 1 and 2 :P :P
C ya guys!

Nah, it was from about 1999 and i cant remember its name still, was Rally Championship something or other i think
