Now we've got some sweet hardware in the computer club/social class. Some company that was moving donated a bunch of stuff to us. Guess what we got? How about 5 15" and 4 17" IBM HP NEC moniters, 1 19" HP moniter, an HP server, 3 clients, an external scsi cdrom, a hub and some 386's and 486's, an HP Deskjet 1200C, an IBM and Fujitsu dot matrix printer, a bunch of cables and 8 boxes of tractor feed paper. We filled up the back room of the portable with all of this good stuff. It's at least a couple thousand dollars worth of really good stuff. I might be able to buy one of the 17 inchers off of my teacher. This stuff is awesome. I can't wait until monday to start going through it.

Nothing like computers to get a student enthusiastic about school! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

The back of my teacher's truck was full! This stuff must have cost like $20 000 or so when new. We got it for free and most of it's not that old. These are high quality monitors and they have the best picture I have ever seen, except for the one IBM 14" we've had for a while. I wonder what's in the server?

Dam, the best our school had PC wise was 6 286's and 4 386's. We mainly had Power Mac's 7200/200 and 5600/166. Those were being replaced with Imac's and PC's were being completly removed. They just finished laying all the optical fibre network lines and getting a cable internet line as I finished Yr12. When I did computer they had a big co-axial cable Bus network with a single ISDN line for internet for the whole school.

My 1st grade kid's got better computers in his class than a lot of high schools have. (Only problem is they're MACs). I guess that's why my taxes are so high??!!??

When I went to school, we had an Apple 2e and an apple 2gs on carts that got wheeled around the school for the students to see. I never got to actually use one. The cool kids and teachers pets got to play Oregon Trail. Meanwhile I crunched numbers with my graphite computer, faster than the other kids could do with the abacus! The neighboring town had a computer lab with 35 pentium 166 mmx's. Tax dollars eh?

Don't really matter... I've had a PC since I was 5.
