And here's the long answer :D

There was another thread on this game in this forum, here :

But the answer to your question is it like command & conquer is yes and no. It has the C&C brand name, and in some ways stays true to the C&C style of gameplay, but there are alot of differences between Generals and the C&C's of old, namely the ability to now build anywhere at any point, and the way units are produced. Multiple war factories no longer contribute to building speed, they simply let you build 2 vehicles at once, one for each factory.
It is still a resource game, but it is no longer a first to 500 tanks wins scenario when playing, as the balance between the 3 sides is now very well done, and tank rushes rarely work.
Don't bother with it if you are wanting classic C&C as you will be dissapointed, but it is most definetly a very good RTS game, regardless of the name. ( It has been compared to Blizzard's Starcraft on more than one occasion on how it plays ).

Enjoy :)

C&C Generals used 3D graphics and you need a good computer to play it or the game will hang on you within ten minutes of gameplay. If you computer lags, please stop playing and change your computer. I stress my computer until the harddisk nearly breaks down. Now I'm waiting to upgrade my PC and replay the game again. I haven't complete the game yet!

The game is a great creation but the storyline is not that good. I'm still waiting for C&C:Tiberium Twilight.

I hope it will come out because I support the Tiberium storyline.

Yeah I was sad to see Nod and GDI go, they were great. Was also cool to see how they changed the various units for the sides as every sequel came out, and the C&C fan could see wat a vehicles counterpart from a previous game obviously was :)
