This is it I forsee the end of PC gaming.

However I need to know is there any way to fix the refresh rate in Enter the Matrix on the PC.

Third party utilities are detected by the software and produce an error as noted on www.atari.com

So whats actually happened is Microsoft released XP, then Nvidia released drives that fixed Direct x, then you can use riva tuner to fix open GL refresh rate, then Atari locked the refresh rate for some reason and after an intesnse discussion with their technical support there is not plans to release a fix.

I cannot play games at 60 hz on a 19inch monitor, it makes me feel ill.

Atari told me to either put up with it and get a refund.
This is now the 4th comapany to tell me to do this, I have very few PC games anymore.

Atari state "it's not our problem"

I guess not, since my only choice is to now consider buying an XBOX (or running my PC through my TV)

If anyone knows of a refresh rate fix please let me know as it will save me the cost of an XBOX

i have to agree with ATARI

in the startup screen you can setup the Refresh RATE

and it works perfect for me in ATI

it's definitely a driver issue with the nVidia cards

:t

i was running my game at 85 Hz

her own pride,

please do not take this offensively, but did you ever sort out all those issues you've been having with your computer?

The reason I ask is that it really sounds like a system-issue for you.

Really. I'm only trying to help.

I remember reading that its not an issue with the Nvidia drivers themselves, its an issue with windows itself

So says Nvidia BUT they have been known to be liars in the past, present, and certainly the future. They lied about driver cheats. You dont think they will lie about driver bugs/issues. :t

Well i dont think it can be the drivers as the drivers have a built in fix that must be forced, which suggests to me the problem lies with windows itself. Afterall if it were a problem with drivers, why would you have to apply the fix manually, they could code ot in automatically.

The problem is not with Windows XP, it is a known issue that Windows XP defaults to the lowest refresh rate, that is why so many programs exist to fix this, also Nvidia have half solved this problem but allowing you to set the refresh rates for Direct X

I personally realise this is microsofts fault, however there is no point blaming companies as the game specifically say's it is compatable with Windows XP, so therefore it is a poor performance game that has been released. After all I have not had this problem with any other games... my other problems have been in other areas, but whether its Atari's fault, or Microsoft, or Nvidia, who gives a ****, I suffer at the end of it and so does Atari, to confirm for those who believe it to be a false alarm check:

http://www.atarisupport.com/faq/enterthematrix_pc.asp#topissue7

which says:
Question: "I receive a ‘Device not created 2’ error message.”

Answer: This error occurs when you are forcing a refresh rate using a 3rd-party program, including utility software provided by your video card manufacturer. Disable all 3rd-party applications before running the game.

Which means running the game with a refresh of 60hz.

I thought I was being a but over the top, but nobody i know wants to play the game due to the flicker generated (which in turn gives you a headache), this problems is as serious as low frame rates.

Like I said Atari are to blame, as they have now lost a potential sale of Enter the Matrix and every other company provides a way around this problem, but considering there are so many stupid people out there they will probably sell enough...

By the way if you claim to be running Enter the Matrix at a higher refresh rate than 60hz without a third party hack then you are telling lies! THerer is no option even with a patch to adjust the refresh rate, what a *****!

Actually the best part was in the beginning where the movie part jacks into the matrix. After that it's all the same ole stuff thats been done before.

Ahhh yes, Keanu Reeves will in my heart, always be known as Ted "Theodore" Logan.

Yep, I'm old enough to remember, & I agree with your assessment.

And speaking of Ted Theodore Logan, I watch The Matrix with this kinda filter:

Keanu: "There is no spoon -- DUDE!"

hey "her own pride"....err....this is probably a stupid question...but how old is your 19" monitor?

My ATi 9600 lets me play at 75hz, the highest my monitor can stomach.

I enjoyed playing the game, not too difficult and great movie scenes. Being honest, the movies are probably the best bit, but it fills in a little bit of the storyline for Revolutions.

I found it fun, but a bit expensive for what you get .

What's the rabbit hole?
