Can you tell me what program I can use to run a game from the hard drive instead of from the cd, I remember seeing some that would allow you to copy the cd to your hard drive and make the game think it was a cd.

Thanks

What your thinking of is an old cracking programme some people I know used to use, it doesn't work with todays most recent games and apps due to copyright protection. Before the games start most look for the CD, find it and then scan it for bad sectors in the right places. The only real means are to use things like cracks which are illegal even if you only plan to listen to music on a CD while you play you favourite game. They remove the code in the games files that make it look for the CD.

The game I am talking about is "A Bug's Life". I would like to run it from the hard drive. My grandson has several cd games and it is a pain to keep changing cd's every time he wants to play a different one.

You may find what you want here. Virtual drive copies the cds to disk & creates a virtual cd drive. games see this as a real cd drive. beware it takes up a lot of hard drive space..i.e hundreds of Mb per copied cd, though this is not usually much of a problem anymore with the huge drives you can buy so cheaply

A good site I use, has the CD-Cracks for CD-checking, check it out:
http://www.gamecopyworld.com

Just look up your game and it has instructions on what to do. If the game is new it may not be there yet.

Gamecopyworld should be ok for this post. The "actual" use for gamecopyworld is exactly what this gentlemen wants. He wants to run a game he legally owns without the cd http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Norton Virtual Drive by
Symantec Corporation will do the trick.
