Any ideas with this???
( ping -f -t -l # ISP )
With defalt setting I ping my ISP @ 141 average.
With MTU @ 576 I ping my ISP @ 256 average.
Next, Registry is at default settings....
Using the ping command ping -f -t -l 32 IPS# I get an average ping of 125
Using the ping command ping -f -t -l 16 IPS# I get an average ping of 96
I didn't thing this low of an MTU would work?

Download DrTCP:
http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.exe
Run the program, it will show the current settings of TCP/IP parameters. Write them down.
You can change any variable that you want, click Apply, and reboot the computer, if no good; you can always change to your original values.
Start with:
MaxMTU - DSL =1492 Cable = 1500 DialUp = 576
Tcp Receive - 255552
Window Scaling - Yes
Time Stamping - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Path MTU Discovery - Yes.
Black Hole - NO
Max Duplicate - 2
TTL - 64

You are obviously an old modem freak cat5
Must admit I was too mtu,mss and all that jazz
NTL max mtu is 1022
If ye read this BIGJAKK - Whats your mtu down south.
Interesting to see if it is 1022 ntlwide
Best using ping to find the mtu and then use the excellent tweakdun to set your parameters although as cat5 says doing it manually takes time but you can always fine tune it even more manually/.
Thats some huge receive window cat5 - does that work for you???

:t Works very well sucks the Cable, DSL, and Dialup (I have all three) to the last bit.
In the post I wrote "Start with” !!!
May next time I need to add “and then play with more settings until you can find the best for your system.”
