well actually im not building one but my friend is going to build one.

he asked me a question and i had no clue what hte answer was so im posting it here.

After you finish installing all the parts how do you install windows 98 or such OS?

If you have a boot disk that comes with windows you will need to insert it then power up the pc. Let it do its thing and detect whatever cd drive you have then insert the OS cd.
Change to the cd, E:\ then hit enter (the boot disk will take the next letter causing your cd drive if it was D to be E or F etc) then type setup and let windows do its thing.
Later on you will need your sound card, vid, modem, printer, scanner driver disk etc.
If you do not have a boot disk (floppy) you may be able to boot straight off the cd if the bios settings allow it.
If you do a search here for installing OS you will find all the steps set out a lot neater and probably more accurate than what I just gave you so if you have the time read up a little more at this forum.
