I am looking for a relatively secure and simple proxy server for sharing a 56K dialup connection.
Normally I like AnalogX stuff but I notice the Office of Homeland Security is warning us off the AnalogX proxy server.

Try multiproxy - excellent for hiding your real ip address and very small footprint.
Analogx is being widely probed for on the internet so its kind of fallen out of favour.

:D I am familiar with Multiproxy. It is a nice anonymous Proxy Server Service :)
However it seems that the original poster is looking for a program to share a connection (I.e. He mentioned AnalogX Proxy which is an ICS replacement).
I thought that you know of a connection sharing program names Multiproxy.
The term Proxy is unfortunately used in a variety of different situations that might confuse some one not knowledgeable as you are. :D

Quite right cat5e. I've been looking at the likes of:
Proxy+3.0
VSOCKS lite
SOHOConnection 2.1
and Free Proxy
I kind of like the looks of Proxy+3.0

Indeed cat5 you are correct - I use ICS with multiproxy running on top.
Brain overload!
Proxy is used in a myriad of definitions - what you are looking for is an internet connection sharing app - a true proxy caches web ETC accesses as well.
You could try Spaghetti , Wingate , NTgate , Netproxy or the best Winroute pro.

I have a copy of Wingate that I got with a PNA (phoneline network) setup that I bought a while back and never used. I don't suppose it cares about the hardware difference. (My present house wiring is Cat3 and am instead using 3Com 3C905B-TX NICs).
If no one sees any problems with that, I think I'll give that a go.

Im looking for a better web proxy myself - Ive been running Microsofts Proxy server v4.0 on Win2k server but its pants so I went back to a win98se workstation with ICS and Multiproxy and its faster but doesnt do the cache thing - I like the look of ISA but havent the cash.
With Cat3 you will get 10mbps which is good enough for small usage - 12 workstations.
You can get some some personal ones like Naviscope (good all in one package) but I need one for server use!
I think I may go back to Winroutepro.
Anyone got any good ones?
Linux Router project doesnt have a web cache does it ALLG?
yOU GOT A URL FOR THE PROJECT - THINK I MAY TRY IT OUT SEEING AS YER ALWAYS BASHING ON ABOUT IT!!!
