I have two dimms of 256 and 1 dimm of 512. I can run both 256 or the 512 but I cant seem to get 512 and a 256 to work together.

I have an MSI K7 Master-S board amd 1.4 266 win xp.

Anyone know why I cant use the two different chips? should I be able to?

If one stick is ECC and the other isn't, they won't work together.

But ECC can be disabled in the BIOS

well no real fix other then it was a good time to swap to the new MB I had bought earlier. It accomodated the ram fine.
