Direct Cable Connection problem

I've gotten a new computer and I am trying to getting a whole lot of stuff off my old computer (win98) to my new box runnning windows XP. I set it all up and it seems to go fine and it sais it is "connected" until I try to find the hardisk from the other computer in "my network places". Its not there.

Im using a laplink cable and fairly sure I've setup client and and host up right. I must be doing something very newbieish. Help appreciated.

Never used direct cable but I believe you may need to share the drive first before you can see it.
