Is there a way to limit bandwith to each user on a linksys hub? Or just any hub/router in general?
I have just 2 computers on it right now but he sucks it all up for downloading porn.. hhehehe
For realz though. Is there to limit him to a certain amount at a time so I can still play my games without pinging over 300?
Thanx

only Way more expensive Routers like the corporate level ones from CISCO, or BAY and well those very expensive ones, have that feature

the linksys are for home use, and therefore no advance features like those are included

now if you use the LINUX ROUTER PROJECT then you can do exactely that

hubs do not have "intelligence", so you could not control bandwidth through them. home routers are very basic and don't include port management.

what are you using to share internet now? there is no program I know of that can do this. the only thing would be the full blown router like AG recommended.

is not impossible, but is a very dumb way to do so

what i mean yes, it can be done, but .... :x

just use a DOS attack on those machines that you don't want to have that much bandwidth

so basically just write a little .BAT file to run and PING large packets non stop to that other machine

:D

you better have 2 nics, if you do that ;)
