Hi!

I Have a Winnt4 Server and many Win2000 Workstations and a lot of Laptops with Win2000 and XP Pro. There is also a 3COM Switch.

WORKSTATIONS:
The Laptops are Comaq, Acer and HP. All new machines.
If i copy a testfile(80MB) from the workstations to the Winnt4 server it takes about 10sec. But when the statusbar is full i can see the statusbar about 10-15sec longer to finish.

LAPTOPS:
The main Problems are the laptops. I also tried to copy a testfile(80MB) to the Winnt4 server. This take about ages. 39-200min. I tried to change the network cards from autonegation to 100Mbit/Full dublex. I also changed the speed on thw switch. The i took the port from a workstation where i copied the file in about 10sec., the same problem, very poor network speed.
I tried it on Laptops with Win2k pro and WinXP pro. The same result.
Someone who can help me out?
Thanks!

Guten tag!

Have you tried this trick?

http://www.sysopt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=119296

Are you using hubs or switches? Be sure that you haven't connected to an uplink port in error.

Disable all antivirus programs and try again. Be sure that the XP firwall is disabled too:

Hi! ;-)

I have a 3COM switch. I configured it from autonegation to 100Mbit/full duplex, also the network cards from the laptops.

And the first trick you wrote is for Win98 machines only, as i read ;-(

And there is no firewall activated. No Virusscan is running.

After i wrote the first article i tried to copy a testfile(300MB) from a WinXP Pro to a Windows Server 2003 (th new one). There i have the same problem. But i tried this with a different switch and different cables! AND differnent machines!

This is very strange

Thanks for your help!

Actually, the tip applies to Win2K/XP. Check the title.

If you're using mapped drives, that tip may help.
