Thanks for the help. I was just wandering because my friend has windows xp and someone told him that the reason he couldnt play me online was because the older tom clancy games do not work on xp. Thanks for the help and ill let him know that that isnt the problem.

Is it true that some computer games don't work on Win XP? I also heard some people say that Win XP is built to prevent people from playing pirated games. Wow! That must be a good security-oriented software.

Wow! And I thought I was the only one playing pirated games and original games together. Anyway, I am not that rich to buy so many original games. Sometimes, you've to compromise a bit to save some money.

This is probably my own experience but I have had a terrible time with XP and all Tom Clancy games(older ones, Splinter Cell works fine :) ). I have no idea why, and yes I have tried comptiblity mode. Rouge Spear is the worst for me. It will get to the planning stage and freeze up. Somethimes it will let me play a mission or two, but I have never been able to play it for more than 4 missions. I have a 1.2 Ghz Celeron and a Geforce 2 MX 200 and I know I more than beat the requirements for Rouge Spear. I even have my beloved 650 mhz PIII with Windows Me on it, and it hasen't frozen yet on any of the Rainbow 6's.

Hopfully my summer format will take care of all these problems! :t

I'm running XPPro, and also got quite a few Tom Clancy games myself - Rainbow Six, Blackthorn, Special Ops etc, but I don't seem to have had a problem with them...?? straange!!

how exactly does compatiblity mode work in winxp?

I mean i have mech warrior 3 and i get really bad perfomance out of it.

What does the win 98 compat. mode do??

Does it some how mimick win 98.

Compatibility mode usually perform real bad in most games i've tried, most don't even work, even if you selected compatibility mode

reason why i keep my Win98 for games :D

I have XP Home, maybe thats why. :rolleyes: I should stick to Windows Me :)
