I just bought a new motherboard and now I need a good graphincs card. I need something that is complete for todays standards at a reasonable price. It has to have ddr and capable of handling 2D & 3D Graphics with no problem. A good price wouldn't hurt either. What should I get?:t

I notice that alot of new hardware is constantly coming out but software nowadays don't take full advantage of the new features. So to me it's an over kill and something that is right on the money is what I call reasonable. For instance 2.4 Ghz I am told is not really necessary. I'm not sure about these facts but I am told by other people.

I was thinking more in terms of a price range.

I can swing with the best of them.
Can someone tell me what is the proper way to connect a Socket A heat sink and fan by any chance?
I didn't want to restart another thread so I hope that you don't mind me asking.:t

This thread is like a sandwich with no meat. :(
It depends on the heatsink. Does it use a two-point spring clip, a 6-point spring clip or 4 posts?

drop the chip into the socket making sure its in nice n level with no gaps between chip n the socket then slide the arm thingy over n thats the chip in, oh yeah i always put thermal grease on the core BEFORE i put in the board makes it easier to see what a nice even application of the stuff u put on then slap the baby in. The hs and fan get plonked on top just make sure the heatsinks the right way round (theres a raised bit on the soceket and a corrosponding bit on the heatsink best way to do this is at eye level with the board on a flat surface and at eye level.
i just put a thermal take something or other on mine, it was a tight fit but had like a bit to put a screwdriver in to help pull the clip over with. just make sure you get it on square n dont push down TOO hard, does need a bit of pressure tho..
As for graphics cards...

My problem is clamping the fan to the socket. I don't want to damage my board. I have the thermal gel etc. and I know the order that they go in and everything but clamping that fan is something that makes me nervous. I just want to install the fan safely with no damages. So, I should use a screw driver to apply just enough pressure to the part of the fan that needs to clamp to the socket right? Without the screwdriver slipping of course?:(

Slide something like a plastic sheet under the clamp to prevent damage.

How does the 9600 compare with the 9500? I hear the 9600 is a mad OCer because of its .13micron process.
