No, I'm not talking about intellect here. I'm talking about what I see under BIOS setup and it has something to do with the HDD. What is it? Should I enable this feature for optimal performance? Thanks!

(Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) is an IDE interface hard disk feature that will tell you when a hard disk is about to fail or become unreliable... S.M.A.R.T. enables a drive's status to be monitored through diagnostics designed into the hard drive's circuitry. Most hard disks nowadays support this feature. However, personally, I haven't see it do its job. I have seen hard disks fail without any warning from S.M.A.R.T. I would say that D.U.M.B. would be a more appropriate name under many circumstances....
