cheaper than previous plan of slk900+2xcoolmod, also cooler and quieter - better in every way!!
radiator - heater core from a car (£20 or so i reckon)
pump - eheim 1250 from ebay (£25 at the mo - 1 day to go)
block - innovacool socket A or swifty mcw5000 (1 &4 days left on ebay each)
recommendations??
edit:
In any case, the use of an effective corrosion inhibitor is always recommended in WCing systems containing aluminum.
antifreeze... at 10-15%?
:tis the innova or the swifty better?? where should i get the pipes, etc

You should be able to get some tubing and clamps at your local hardware store. I'm pretty sure the Swifty is a better block, but I'd say just buy the best you can afford.

The swifty block is a lot better. www.mcmaster.com sells Clearflex 60 for $.60 a foot under the PVC Chemical tubing name. Make sure to get 3/4" OD, 1/2" ID tubing. :)

edit:
ive rung a local breakers, i can go pick up a heatercore at the weekend for £10 - w00t good deal!!
im high bids on eheim 1250 - £21 less than 1 day 2 go
high bids on that swifty block, $41, 5 days to go. could be a problem, i need it quicker than that:rolleyes: :(
nevermind, if i win that block &pump at that price, ill be able to do this stup for £75 or less!!:D

sorry, loads to read there...
ill sum up.
what do i need to connect an Eheim 1250, a car heatercore and an swifty 5000??
who sells all that in the UK??
Giblet Plus!

This (http://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/109/html/0085.html) is the tubing you want. You want at least 6', probably 10' so you have extra. I'm not sure if mcmaster ships to the UK - you might have to get it elsewhere.
The tubing will fit on the 1250 without any barbs. :D

this one?? (http://www.mcmaster.com/cgi/item.cgi?searchstring=5231K237&tab=find&qty=&disppartnum=&sesnextrep=314522802327962&ItemLinksString=100000000901325237020000%0990%09Pr oduct+Technical+Data%09Product+Technical+Data%09Ch emical+Compatibility+of+PVC+Tubing%0A¬add=&MstrPN=)
and what about barbs and clips??
edit: and what should i add to the water??
i want to A] stop it corroding (copper based block, alu rad)
& B] increase cooling.
im guessing i should get distilled water with ~10%~ water wetter & 5% anti corrosive
what should i use for this??
ichorid
05-21-2003, 04:11 PM
i asked swiftech themselves, they recommended their own (of course:rolleyes: ) water wetter, with anti corrosive stuff already in it - perfect :D
they also sell the barbs necessary for the block - ill get 2 for the block & 2 for the rad
edit: ebay seller of mcw5000 will stop auction and sell for 85CAD (60USD, 40GBP)
fair price, ill do it to finish the auction quick

That hose should be fine. You do know that the MCW-5000 is a $50 USD block?
You can probably fit your tubing over the copper tubes on the heatercore with a little effort. :)

A] the mcw5000 is a really good block (though not the best)
B] An automotive heatercore is well worth £10
C] £25 is a fair price for 260cfm at 45db (2x120mm)
D] An Eheim 1209 pump is a great deal at £10
thanks guys!!:t

The MCW is a good block.
An automotive heatercore is a much better buy than a "watercooling" radiator.
120mm fans are nice.
I haven't heard of the 1209 before.

nevermind... he stopped me bidding cos i got a really bad of some other seller... for no reason:mad:

super cheap deal - here (https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2003052415195532&item=2-1235&catname=water) . it also runs on 12v, RUNS OFF THE PSU:p :D :x
they ship internationally.
its cheap and super quiet. and small whichll help, since im trying to fit it into a midi tower
wish me luck!!
btw. the fans, barbs, tubing & paste (ceramique) arrived today... the fans are real noisy tho...
im gonna make a baybus for them once ive got it all sorted.
