Hi everyone,
Please, please help me!
I bought a new HP PC in January (OS=Windows Millenniun Edition) and since I bought it I keep getting an error reading "Explorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL and will now close." - It doesn't matter what I'm doing whether I'm using Explorer or not - it just keeps happening and it's driving me crazy. Hewlett Packard tried to help me but were not very good! Any help appreciated!
Thanks!

Reinstall windows using your recovery CD that came with the PC. Thats the easiest way.

I see that there is another Victim of the Kernel error. This is a tough problem most evident within Windows Millenium. If you could supply a little bit of info regarding the chipset on your board it would help as some VIA units have had prolems with Millenium. As this is a Name Brand Computer you may not have the info needed to look into the problem. Driver issues with some computers also show up as Kernell Errors and most tech guys at the Big 5 Computer Manufacturers are not even close to being trained in these issues. Like the last reply stated, reinstall the operating system and look into what chipset the motherboard has. Look into installing the INF. update file for the chipset if available. If not, format the drive and start again. If all else fails, Windows 98 or 2000 has worked for some of us. Good Luck....

yeah, do what Dokeman said. I've done it several times and worked like a charm every time.

Hi,
Thnks for the help, but I have already tried reinstalling the recovery CD - and within days it started again!
I don't know anything about the motherboard - sorry! - I am not very technical minded- but I do know that it's really annoying me!
Any other suggestions greatly appreciated!
