Some you can-others you cant.:t Imperion1 05-18-2003, 10:56 PM Yep, depends on the specs of the laptop. Moved to gamers forum. AllGamer 05-19-2003, 03:13 AM you'll need a Laptop with 512 Mb of RAM and ATI 9000 or ATI Mobile to play it'll not run smooth on a nVidia Go :t doomforce 05-19-2003, 03:36 AM Yeah,i meant how easy it is to play on a laptop.Without a mouse, that is! but u can add a mouse cant you? if u havent got a mouse,it should be an odyssey to control te game throught that thing in the middle right? warcraft rules:x $1500-P4 gamer 05-19-2003, 08:42 AM "Greece" Noticed where your from! Dulcebuzz 05-20-2003, 09:20 AM Depends on the laptop. My second is a P4 2.0 with 512 ram and an ATI mobile video card with 32 megs, and it runs great. wahrez 05-20-2003, 09:21 AM I'm in the middle of playing Vice City and Enter The Matrix on my 2GHz, 512MB, 64MB Nvidia Laptop and its sweet and smooth at 1280x1024 with everything on. I use a Optical Intellimouse plugged in via USB. Wouldn't even try with that "thing" in the middle. ...>WahreZ GamerBoyFranco 05-20-2003, 09:32 AM My friend has a PII laptop and a eraserhead for a mouse, wcIII works like a charm! doomforce 05-21-2003, 03:09 AM wow those last 3 posts are really encouraging:)! any others? cbh 05-21-2003, 04:57 AM One of my friends own a laptop and the latter is a PIII model but it's an early one. He installed a pirated WC 3 into it and found out that he could play the game without the cd. Amazing! But there is one bad point about laptop! It's quite laggy when you play WC 3 on the laptop. I don't know why! But it's quite cool to play computer games when you are outside your house. Cool... :) $1500-P4 gamer 05-21-2003, 03:04 PM "But there is one bad point about laptop! Its the micro memory architecture crappolla. Lappys are very crippled when it comes to mem bandwdith/speed. Very limited indeed-#1 hinderence is how they cram it all down so small. And they keep going smaller cause thats what everyone wants. Small, light weight and long batt. power. At one point I see them backtracking and uping the speed at expense of size. When its more economical/feasible and market demands it. this will take tech to catch up with our desires though.;) cbh 05-23-2003, 02:18 AM I guess laptops aren't built for hardcore gamers after all. I think hardcore gamers have to stay at home and play their games. If we can have laptops that can allow gamers to play online games outside their homes, a lot of computer companies will be making a lot of money. Laptops (that can play PC games without lagging) will be a major hit! :D Logan2002 05-26-2003, 11:08 PM Yeah I agree cbh. I bought a notebook in 2000. At the time it was the bomb! It had a pretty fast cpu for a notebook and with its 8mb video card I could play most games...at the time. But I think I can play wc3 on my notebook I can play delta force 1 2 and landwarrior on it. I even can play flashpoint.....but it is very slow with poor graphic quality. cbh 05-27-2003, 02:08 AM Yeah! Later all the laptops will be able to play online games and all of them can be plugged together to play CS outdoors. Cool... Just imagine! Bringing your laptop to the beach or a bus station and you can just play your favourite games immediately. You bought a new game and you can't wait to try it. You can try it out in your laptop outdoors first. No lagging... :p Logan2002 05-27-2003, 02:17 AM my notebook has two pc card slots (I forget the full name) So it too can support a wireless card ......but I can only play 1999 and MOST 2000 games with it and with no lagging (esp since I upped the mem to 192megs) I will upgrade the cpu next and replace the battery and adapter. And later this year I will see if I can get it repaired some more... I know it is expensive but I am so attacted to the notebook. But I think my notebook with a wireless lan card will be able to connect to a WAN in a public place........ But as for online games?? I would be limited to diablo 2 and the expansion, Starcraft......and I think that is it. No other games from 2000 that are very popular online comes to mind. cbh 05-27-2003, 07:17 AM Good luck, man! Maybe you may become the first guy to promote laptop gaming in outdoors. :p Logan2002 05-28-2003, 11:03 AM That would be cool wouldn't it? It is just that was meantioned earlier in this post. With the micro aritecture of laptops gaming really is limited, but with some of newer notebooks with the 32 and 64 meg dedicated memory graphic cards (not the shared vram) they can play current games as well as yesterdays cool games. But as for the future? You might want to buy another notebook in 6-8 months. $1500-P4 gamer 05-28-2003, 12:11 PM "my notebook has two pc card slots (I forget the full name)" Shame on you. Thats the #1 asset to lappys other than usb ports. Its PCMCIA ports, got a 56k soft modem USR in mine.;) Logan[TeamX] 05-28-2003, 02:29 PM My G/F's 1.7 GHz Toshiba laptop with 16 or 32 MB ATI Mobility Raedon 7500 plays GTA3 well, so I guess it should play War3 without incident. Mobility Raedon - best mobile graphics chip to-date. Logan2002 05-28-2003, 10:53 PM :( Yeah ...your right! It is the number one asset in my old laptop! Umm what is a memory pc card.....oops I forgot again and I am too lazy to scroll down and check your post.......shame on me!! :( But when I bought my laptop in the instruction booklet it meantioned it.... Oh yeah I have one of those pc card fans it really yhelps in cooling down my laptop when I am playing sc for a long time Mr_Sponge_Bob 06-09-2003, 01:16 AM my toshiba laptop has a 1.5 ghz celeron with 256mb ram and a NVIDIA geforce 4 420 go with 16mb of ram and it doesnt lag with warcraft 3 or 20 podbots on cs. my dads laptop(gateway solo, 800mhz, 128mb ram with SIS twister 8mb ram) and it lags a bit on warcraft 3 Logan2002 06-09-2003, 10:28 AM then it will lag on my 500mhz celeron...I will upgrade the cpu to a p3 700 coppermine cbh 06-10-2003, 12:45 AM Are laptop upgrades more expensive than PC upgrades? Logan2002 06-10-2003, 11:34 AM well for this particular cpu............yeah it is more expensive....but I fell in love this old notebook. cbh 06-10-2003, 09:54 PM I heard from the TV commercials that Intel is coming out a Mobile-type processor-based laptop and I hope that can play hardcore PC games. Then everyone will buy that laptop and start mobile gaming outdoors. Wow! SysOpt.com
