Asus 17v133 1400 athlon running 57 degrees? hangs sometimes in screen saver.
cpu fan running 5000 rpm.
would a bent capacitor cause any overheating?
I probably need to reseat the heatsink? looks clean not a lot of bunnies.

I hope you know that processor runs very hot. You really should clean out the case often. Reseating the heatsink would be a good idea too. Make sure you use a thermal compound such as artic silver 3. The temperature is safe for now but could get worse if your system is not kept up.
BTW, the capacitor should have nothing to do with your temperature.

Yeah, those 1400 tbirds were one of the hottest running CPU's made.

try gettin some fresh air in - add a case fan
no point cooling a cpu with hot air ;)
I did add a case fan. I will reseat the heat sink. and clean it.
Thanks again.

Since that is a notoriously hot running CPU, you might compensate by going to a more serious heatsink, the kind usually used by performance freaks and overclockers.
Maybe a Thermalright SLK-800 and a Thermaltake Smartfan II. But then again, if you wanted to spend lots of money, you'd probably have upgraded to a new motherboard and CPU already. Maybe just a Volcano 9 or something else that's moderately priced but still powerful.
What do you think of these?

I haven't used any Dynatron products myself, but Robert Bruce Thompson (author of PC Hardware in a Nutshell) thinks highly of them, and AMD uses them internally, so I'd guess they're good.
I'd give the Dynatron DC1206BM-L/610-P-CU a try I think. It's gotta be better than what you're using now, and at $13.99 with a rating up to XP 3200+ you can't go wrong. (New Egg (http://www.newegg.com/) price.)
local price $13.40 sounds good thanks
