It appears that all my codecs are gone. How do I reintall them?

Are they really gone or just disabled? Windows media encoder tends to disable audio/video codecs upon install. If so, open the multimedia properties->audio/video compression and re-enable the drivers. If they're really gone, reinstall is the only way.
