There's an article at Extremetech has an article at Extremetech (http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973,1086025,00.asp) where they show that Nvidia may be inflating their 3DMark03 scores with the new driver.

Any opinions?

Tempest in a teapot. The drivers are beta, officially. Any improprieties here will probably be compensated for in the final driver release anyway.

I dont know. They cried like a baby about ati, then they turned around and purposley did it before! Now AGAIN. LOL that just turns me away form nvidia even more. Now they are trying to get EA to optimise all games new for Nvidia only. So only basic dx features work on ati with their games. Nvidia is starting to stink like yesterdas lunch left in the sun!:p

I'm not buying an FX range of their cards, if the 9800 i get turns out to be great i'll stick with ATi.

Well they did it before didnt they by totally destroying image quality in order to get faster FPS'

I reckon we should wait for the next set of WHQL's though before passing judgment

Jebus, AG - it's not a retail product! As such, there's no basis for fraud or legal argument.

I wish you would get off your Canadian/ATi/Matrox horse for a few minutes.

i was refering to the EA stuff, making games only work for a specific chipset, instead of all chipset, or even full support for each chipset.

Actually if you look on Nvidia's site here (http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_44.03) you can see that the drivers are not only "Official" but are WHQL certified when using a GfFX based card.

I'm not sure how a True unified driver can only be WHQL qualified for some of the hardware it supports, but that's a question for another thread. At least the drivers work with Nvidia's earlier architectures which is more than can be said for ATI's Catalysts.

I don't know if the anomalies in 3DMark03 when using the new 44.03 Detonator FX drivers are the result of a bug, another "quack" fiasco, or something else.

However, I do know that the site which released the "revelation" or "accusation" has posted images that indicate something is definitely broken with 3DMark03 when using those drivers on a GfFX card and the tools Extremetech had at their disposal.

Whatever the truth behind the anomalies, it's a sad day for benchmarking, and you have to wonder about the real capabilities of Nvidia's new architecture.

I love how that rumor at 3dchipset had HL2 being optimized for Nvidia. Today I look at ATI.com and see ATI is pimping HL2 as the choosen card to deliver the game with.

Think logically, how could it possibly benifit a game publisher/developer to make their game function better with one card over another? It's called capitalizm, and you usually don't want to narrow your consumer base if at all possible. He who sells the most wigits wins, so to speak.

Well on the demo videos the Valve guy was bigging up the features of the ATi Radeon 9800 when it came to certain texture renderings and whatnot, sounds more like theyre in the sack with Ati to me

New games being developed-not ones just now being released. It was on yahoo news UK while ago but gone now. My link is invalid now-errrr. But i found this-more than one article about it sooo.
From this site
http://slinger.openglforums.com/

"While reading some updates at Slashdot I came across this article at nVidia's website. It talks about how EA and nVidia are going to be working together to promote each other. When I was reading the article I came across something very interesting... "EA development teams will use PCs powered by NVIDIA GPUs to create eye-popping 3D effects while allowing full compatibility across all PC gaming systems featuring NVIDIA hardware." My biggest hope is that Linux is classified as a PC gaming system featuring NVIDIA hardware. I wont hold my breath right now, but If more EA games start comming out for Linux, I'm going to want to start buying more EA games."

Now from the horses mouth..................

Booooooooooooo! No more nvidia for me.
