I got DSL, as some may know it was a nightmare getting it hooked up. I just got my computer fixed and hooked it up for the first time..(been at it all night) Whoo hoo blazing tecnology huh?
Why do I have a D/L speed of 335 bytes per second? yep that's right. I almost had a birthday waiting for this to load. What's the problem?

I'm not sure if Sysopt.com has a forum for DSL but I tweaked my DSL with the help of the guys at www.dslreports.com. (http://www.dslreports.com.) They have some nifty tools for figuring out your problems.

Hi surrealchereal. I also have DSL and your ISP should have a speed test page that you can use to test your speed. The DSL speed is only between you and your ISP. After that your just like the rest of us. If the web sight is slow then you will be slow. Some sights will automaticly see if you are on broadband, dsl/cable and some dont. The following sights have info on DSL and other stuff relating to connectivity. www.speedguide.net (http://www.speedguide.net) and www.dslreports.com (http://www.dslreports.com)
I hope that you find what your looking for. My provider is SNET and SBC and yes they are having issues right now with load demand. Go to dslreports.com and do a tcp/ip test to see if your network settings are correct. If not then it will tell you what to tweak. Good luck and happy surfing.

Your talking about 0.3 KiloBytes a Second?
Are you sure its not the site being overloaded? or is the setup of the dsl done correctly. People make more mistakes when they are tired than when they are not tire. Were you tired? retrace your steps and make sure all the settings are correct.
Are the phonelines clean? is the modem external or internal? if external it should be USB, do you have a USB mouse as well? if so it may be conflicting with the mouse or the mouse conflicting with the modem. (If there both USB)
Try Reinstalling The drivers and modem if that doesnt work try reinstall Dial Up Networking. if still no go Might have to reinstall windows. if still does not work. it may be a bad modem. make sure its its a bad modem before you reinstall windows. Might have to call up tech support.
post your system specs so i might be able to help you better

thanks voog, and everyone. What I have been tring to download was my video drivers! I'm going blind just tring to see the screen.
The card is a phohpet 4500 and I did a clean install and can't find the CD for the drivers. No prob she thinks, pulls that one out pops in the voodo (or is that doo do 5500 and voila it didnt work) took it out put the other back in and bingo it doesn't work either now. I am going to stand in a cave for a while. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
the Networking looks good from what I remember, got everything all interfaced and all, card bound to the right stuff etc,,
but when I can see it again I'll be more specific.

Gotta hand it to you ... 3 days of computer hell and no call to ELN Tech Support! That's some kind of record, I think.
