My URL name is about to expire. Dotster sent me an email and said for $25 they can renew it for another year, or $44 for 2 years. Is there any other place out there that can do this cheaper?

This place claims 9.50 per year and they are ICCAN Accredited.

http://www.register.com/ they do a lot cheaply - but don't expect anything from their support staff....

As for $25 a year - that's about average....

I wouldn't go for register.com, directnic is about $19 a year and they're pretty good

I was using http://www.namezero.com 's free service... until they stopped it. For $19/yr, I could have my domain name transferred to me under WHOIS... so I did. I believe it was $35 for 2 years... in hindsight, I should have done the 2 year deal.

Question for you guys... are all these services the same in that they register your name for you, then you specify what webserver/host to point to? With namezero, they have a control panel... I specify that (http://test.rh71.com) goes to (http://www.geocities.com/blah/index.html) and (http://pics.rh71.com) goes to (http://www.nbci.com/blah/pics.html) and so on... is this how all these domain registration services work?

I didn't have to specify any DNS numbers... Namezero did that for me as they have their own... I'm just doing the control panel thing. You can see what I mean here: http://www.namezero.com/support/helpcenter/brctutorial.shtml#bookmark
