Computer Bugs!

Does anyone know where the term "bug" came from. As in getting the bugs out of it... Or trying to fix the bugs in this damned @#$#!^&^%@! computer?


Well, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ther were....(OOPPSS! Wrong Story!)

When computers were as big as houses, there was a glitch. I can't remember exactly what computer this was, maybe iliac or brainiac or something, but anyway, this woman tech went to see what the problem was. A moth had got caught and fried between a circuit, and when she removed the "bug," that fixed her system.

Just thought I'd throw that in to the hhmmmmmmm.... bin.

Sometimes those things actually blew circuits too. And somebody had to trouble-shoot the "CPU". And on and on. Are we boring you yet?

I like that, good thing there are not real bugs with software, microsoft machines would overheat, every air hold would be blocked with the billions of bugs!

yeah! They'd have to give away a free bug zapper (with the cool green and blue neon lights) with every copy of Windoze, Extra Strength Windoze and for you power users, Windoze Ultra 2000 with Microside.....guaranteed to have your hard drive clean in no time!

Is Windows a Virus?

No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:

They replicate quickly - okay, Windows does that.

Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so - okay, Windows does that.

Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk - okay, Windows does that too.

Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. Sigh... Windows does that, too.

Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. Yup, that's
with Windows, too.

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences:Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.

So Windows is not a virus.

It's a bug.
