friend is buying my old system which is

Athlon 1600 XP cpu

MSI K7T Turbo2 motherboard

MSI 32 MB video ,a 3D magic AGP card

MAXTOR 6L040J2 40 gig. 7200

Lite-on CDRW 52 read speed

Cd rom.. 28 read speed and a floppy


1 gig of pc 133 ram.

Ethernet card.

Sound blaster Live 5 card.

1 slot fan.. double fan in a front panel.

400 watt power supply ( new fan )



This is his trade in towards my system.

900 Athlon cpu and 250 watt power supply in an atx case.

M810LMR motherboard

broken cdrw and a working dvd player and a floppy

20 gig 5400 rpm Hard drive

256 of pc 100



so the question is.. what is a fair trade in price for his old comp towards my system .

I know how much my old system cost me to build.

does his pc that your getting work?

if not id say even less than that to make up for time and trouble

yea, it works fine otherwise. It cost about $700 to make it whenever that was because of the prices of those parts at that time, I think . Hes hoping it will be worth more.

I built the comp I am selling to him for much less than that amount. Much less.. Heck..I just built a P4 with some bells and whistles for about that amount.

The cut-rate prices and free shipping by manufacturers is now very competitive to building and assembling from purchased parts. It is almost to say the parts are worth more than the whole. Margins for manufacturers have to be very thin, or possibly a loss in the short run to get market share.
