can I infect my own machine with sub7server?

i was just reading the article over at grc, and an idea came to me...

i have used pcAnywhere, but allegedly this sub7server thing has all the control you could possibly need. couldn't i just put that on one of my boxes, and then I would have full control??

can anyone tell me about this idea

Thanks to my little brother, one of our machines was subsevend. The person had complete control of our system. Was changing colors at will all aroun the system, moving the mouse, etc... The final action was to wipe the registry and various other files important to W98. The person also gleaned the pword to our ultima online account and looted us pretty good.

All of this prompted me to look into subseven and play with it a bit. From what I gather from playing with it, I think you can pword protect the server so only you have access to it.

I wouldn't try it unless you have access to some sort of firewall to keep an eye on it. Many of these programs "call home" and give your IP, port# and password to whomever set it up. I have also read about ways to bypass the password all together in older versions. Its been a long time since i looked into it and i dont know if it is still possible or not.

According to a Sub7 features list, you can password protect the server bot that is on the machine so that you need a password to connect. That might come in handy for you.

My GF was playin The Sims on my pc and i connected to the internet.

then i put a message: ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US,

YOU HAVE NO CHANCE TO SUREVIVE MAKE YOUR TIME,

Illegal Operation (a fake one) I closed the sims then said a message:

I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!

then i said,

To connect to one computer via Netbus or another program you need the computers IP right.??

I mean, if I want to connect to my computer from the university, I need the IP of my computer at home right.?

Yes actually subseven can be quite secure. You can password protect it, and you can also specify a port, that allows you to set a random connection port with also makes it hard for a person to attack the server. I like Sub7 it has alot of features and I use it here at work and home for different applications. sub7 is acctually a great program. First, zskillz, you want to download the sub7 pack, which includes the server, server editor, and 'controller'. Go into the server editor and change the port. Next, password protect it, then put in your icq# in the required field to page you when your pc is online.
