I am going to switch out an Intel d815eea2u mb with an Abit st6-RAID mb. Since these both have the i815 chipset there won't be any problems, correct? By that I mean there will be no need to reinstall the os.
Thanks,
Gerry

Maybe, mayby not.
No one can be sure until after you do it.
I prefer to fear for the worst, then get a pleasant surprise when it works without a reinstall.

It should swap out easily. :)

It will probably 'work', but a reinstall will eliminate the possibility of any little 'bugs' or inefficiencies. There shouldn't be any need to reformat the harddrive or anything though. Just pop in the O/S disk and do a complete install over top of the existing O/S.

Thanks y'all. I was thinking there wouldn't a problem since it was the same chipset but wanted to hear from those of you with more experience.
Thanks again,
Gerry

Swapped it out last Friday without any problems. It (my wifes pc) has been running better with the Abit board. For some reason the Intel board was giving her problems with her mouse software and with her refresh rate.
Thanks again for the info.

Um, I wouldn't assume that what worked for another person will work for you. I've had to reinstall Windows in at least 70% of motherboard swaps - even with all of my experience. I either couldn't get it to work or I couldn't get it to last. The second is the clincher.
It depends on the Windows version and the motherboards/chipsets involved.
