I've got a set of Altec Lansings that I just love. Here (http://www.epinions.com/cmd-review-2171-89F0801-38DEB383-prod3) is a review that I wrote for Epinions.com shortly after getting them, and I feel the same today.

I have a pair of AIWA speakers I got 3 years ago to take along with my portable cd player to listen to descent sounding music while working in Minnesota. I got 'em at best buy for $99 and I love them. Anyone who sees my computer looks at them and thinks they are cool. Not the most powerful, but plenty loud for games and nice sound for music. Has a built in powered sub (4"). Not too bad for not being computer speakers!

I gave forty some-odd dollars for a set of Labtec Pulse 242. I needed a set quick, and didn't get to hear them first. Didn't expect much from them. Got them home and hooked them up, and was totally shocked! The things rock. The sub has an 8" driver in a real wood enclosure--it'll rattle the walls. The satellites are small, but the output's impressive. I don't think you could beat them for the $$.

Mine new speakers are these: Klipsch Promedia 2.1 (http://www.klipsch.com/images/productmedia/large/76_large.jpg)

200 watts of superior sound. Crystal clear highs. Enough bass to shake the walls, floor, ceiling, and annoy the neighbors. More than loud enough for any kind of music. And all this is at about 50% volume.

Me like.

Altec Lansing 45.1s. Dad's got the 45.2s. If I had the dough, I'd buy a new set of Klipsch ProMedias. Surround Sound THX would be really cool (4.1s), but 2+woofer (2.1s) would still be better than what I've got.

I have some generic compshow-specials Nice speaks, but thier large and clunky for multimedia speakers, plus the connections are getting loose, and the bass isnt as clear as I'd like it to be.
Going to get a set of those Klipsch 4.1's as soon as I make enough money this summer.

Cambridge Soundworks: 4 speakers plus subwoofer. Outstanding sound. As good as my Bose surround sound on my home theatre.

whole system on a turtle beach santa cruz, one ASC33(?) altec lancing sub set, mainly for basic computer sounds, and stuff, for gaming and DVD and other stuff, i have the two front and back channels hoooked up to my home entertainment system, get over it, it was cheaper to build a computer w/ dvd than a stand alone player. and yeah, so the video is little crappy from the TV out, so what, it works, right? anyway, speakers on the HES. hhmmm, 4 12in subs in the back and kinda to the sides, maybe 12 or 15, 8 and 9 inch mindranges spread through the room, and about 16 tweeters, also spread out. and big center chanell box, i think it has about 4 6inch midranges in it, never looked before though. basic reciever system, with some big amps, i didn't set it up, just looking around picking stuff out to write down, i don't know a whole lot about it, but it sounds good, especially with dvd's

I'm just running a two channel + subwoofer setup here. I have a Pyramid PA800X amp which powers two BOSE 301 Series II bookshelf speakers and an 8" Rockford Fosgate Punch subwoofer. The amp puts out 800 watts RMS, which is way more than these speakers can handle.

Pair of not so big but 'o so bad Yamaha YST-M15's. No sub, but hey, I live with my parents and why should I shell out for something that I will just have to turn down anyway?? I got my Yamaha's off of ebay, they were my first purchase ever and probably one of my most worthwhile. With the exception of high-end Klipsh sats, I have never heard the kind of bass that these babies pump out. Go Y!!!

Cambridge Sound Four Point Surround, FPS2000 digital. Very cool, especially with my sound blaster live x-gamer card! First time I ever had a decent set of comp speakers.

Update to original post. Will soon replace my single MTX 8" subwoofer with two 15" Optimus subs in a custom bandpass box, being drove by an Audio Gods 400w watt RMS Class A digital amplifier with an Optimus active low-pass crossover. Everything wired at 2-ohms of course. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Best part, this is a free upgrade. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif I found all these forgotten parts collecting dust in storage yesterday.

Catch ya' later,

I have a Sherwood RVD-6090R reciever, two 1970s-vintage Fried speakers with 8" woofers (one with a new woofer), a DIY bandpass subwoofer (which I refer to as the Hyper Twin-Driver Bandpass Power-Drive Subwoofer), and two DIY floorstanding speakers, each with 2 5" woofers, 2 3 1/2" midranges, and a wide-dispersion horn tweeter. The sound is awesome, and I only wish I had a DVD player, or at least a TV tuner card.

I use Monsoon 700's. I'm very pretty happy with them. They crank, and are very clean sounding. The Subwoofer is pretty solid.
No complaints.
