How can you get rid of window 98 at bootup?

If you're talking about the Win98 splash screen that hides all the goodies during bootup, you can get TweakUI (http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-1461985-100-2830963.html?tag=st.dl.10001-103-1.lst-7-1.2830963) and use it to do all kinds of tweaks to Win98.

To get rid of the startup splash screen, open tweakUI, click on the "boot" tab, and uncheck the box for "display splash screen while booting."

You can add the line:
Logo=0
To the [Options] section of the msdos.sys file to skip the logo during the boot.

Im using TweakUI, it's very easy to use, and allows you to tweak and customize the UI.

Check out X-Setup by Xteq at www.xteq.com (http://www.xteq.com) This program is freeware, robust and well thought out. I would certainly use this over anything Microsoft has to offer. There are so many things you can do with this program - give it a try. This will get rid of the logo, no problem. Otherwise you need to open the Msdos.sys file (typically, it will be hidden) and edit logo=1 to logo=0 as stated by Dave_H. If you need more information on how to alter the msdos.sys file let me know.

And if you want to put a different splash screen you can replace the logo.sys file on your C drive and/or your logos.sys and logow.sys in your windows folder. Just do a search on the web for splash screens. There are lots out there

i made a funny startup logo with the winlogo on it and it says, "sorry your computer sucks have a nice day"

And yes you can edit the ones you have . Now dont forget to create a folder and copy the originals to it so you can always change it back. I mean after all if Bill comes over for a drink you wouldn't want him to see yo have hacked his logo's (or would ya)

I'm not worried too much about Bill.Because
when he comes over he's already half drunk.Therefore,he wouldn't know if I stole his splash screen.

I use several FREEWARE programs to get rid of all that Microsoft Windows/BS on my pc.

First, I use Win Logo Changer. It uses ANY jpg, bmp, or gif for bootup, wait, and shutdown. You can change them at will or have them changed automatically.

Next, I use TClock to get change the clock, start button, and start program menu.

I use IE Personalizer to change the spinning logo and Title Bar of MSIE.

I use TweakAll to change the title bar of OE!

You can find these with a Google Search or at www.shareware.com (http://www.shareware.com)

this doesn't make sense to me, but when i search my enitire computer, i find logos and logow, but no logo. I have to have it, or something because I get the splash at bootup... ideas?

zskillz, I don't believe there is a logo.sys by default. I also don't know where that graphic actually comes from, but if you create a logo.sys and place it in the root directory, Windows will use that one instead of the default Window splash screen.

I beleive win9x probably has a default Logo.sys file, Iknow win95B loads one but I dont know about the other O/S.Try going to windows explorer and open the c drive. Now click on edit and make sure you have show all files checked. If not,check it and apply then look in your c drive.

the logo.sys file is on some systems like win95B and some systems with customized start screens(like ones that display a company logo) if no logo.sys file is found, the default log is embedded into the io.sys file and is read from there.

i downloaded the tweak program and i ran the run zip. it says 4 files unzipped. but i can't open the program. what am i doing wrong.
