I am having a small problem with Win2000 PRO. When I boot to Win2000 it seems like it takes it longer to completely load then other systems I have seen load up. What is happing is when the system gets to the desk, the desk top will be blank no icons at all but the tool bar works.

Then after the computer sits for a minute or two it will complete loading the icons all appear and everything is fine. Does anyone know what is causing this and what the cure is? I have all the current updates available but I did remove the one that was causing slow shutdown. Any help will be greatly appreciated. TIA

Use MSCONFIG to remove any new or unknown software from Startup. In Services, Hide all Microsoft Services and see if anything new or unknown is there.

Use Spybot - I'm pretty sure that you have it.

Finally, try reapplying SP3.

Did you remove Security Update 811439? It was giving me issues on my 2000 Pro box.

No, I didn't know about that one. I did remove Q329170 that causes slow shutdown. But I have another computer that has the same set up and it doesn't have this problem. However, it did have the slow shutdown problem and when I removed Q329170 it cleared it up. I will check this out. Thanks for the Input. :t
