Guys
I am looking at putting a couple of case fans into my system to try keep the temps down a bit (p4 2.4 533 overclocked to 2.6GHz runs full load over 50 degreesC and internally gets a bit hot after gaming for a few hours). I have a Asus Mobo which supplies two connections points for CPU fan and Chassis fan. How do I go about adding a couple of fans to this system. Can anyone recommend 80mm fans to use which will provide a good airflow without major noise. The power supply I have is only 250W…will that cause any problems..? Does anyone know of any good guides available to read on the internet?
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

1st off case fans should be powered directly from the PSU. 2nd since your running a P4 2.4 and your overclocking I can only assume your running a newer graphics card, cd burner, and whatever other goodies. So I'd definately say your pushing the envelope with a 250watt PSU. Experiencing any sudden re-boots or freeze up's ?.
When posing questions such as this it's always helpful to add your system specs in the beggining of the thread.
P.S. I suggest you don't run case fans directly off the board's headers.

Sorry...system spec
P4 2.4Ghz
Asus P4B533-V
Leadtek GF4 Ti42000
40 x CDRW
DVD ROM
ADSL Internet etc. etc.
I have experienced one black-out....processor was running at 2.6Ghz playing Unreal 2 for about an hour.....computer just wiped out ...no power. Is this because there was not enough power from the supply...?
There is one case fan...and a processor fan. There are also fans on the graphics card and in the power supply. The processor tends to run anout 38C normally....but gets up to about 50-52C when under load for longer periods of time. (temps from Sandra 2003..using burn-in scenario and slightly lower readings from ASUS Probe software).
I bought the system assembled...and at the time never really thought about cooling for overcocking and the pwer supply.

That power supply is for running that system stock as you bought it.

I would upgrade to at least an Enermax 350watt or maybe a 400 watt power supply.
Here is a good link for case fans:

Guys
Another thing.....I was just about to upgrade the graphics card to a 9700pro. I believe that this card has to be connected to the power supply. With my current power supply...will I be able to hook up a 9700pro ...or will I have to purchase a new power supply first..?
If I need a new supply.....would the one suplied in this case be good enough

If your lookign to run lots of Case fans (im runnign 4) you WILL need a beefy PSU, 350-420Watts from decent manufacturers such as Hiper, Antec, Enermax will do the trick well

Yes you will most definately need a higher rated PSU to take care of what you have now plus a 9700pro and addtional case fans
