New DVD drive

Ok i got my new pioneer dvd drive . IT doesn't come with a Digital out port ont he drive. Only a aux or cd in slot. But my cd rom drive comes with a digital out and a cd in or aux slot. So i switched them and i can hear no music out of my cd but music out of my dvd.

Is digital out anygood what does it offer that is better than the cd in or Aux what ever u call it

What exactly are you talking about?

If it's the audio cables behind the drive, please do remember that that cable is not neccassary because EIDE handles the sound.

you really don't need any cables at all. what are you using to play cds? use windows media player.

I think he's talkin bout the 2 pin SPIDF-out and the 4 pin audio-out on the back of the cd-rom drive :t

ya this it.. it is 2 pin and a 4 pin . cable that comes with the drives. I dont' know what tey are for. they plug into my soudn card

did you not read the link I posted? It tells you exactly what those cables are for.

To eleviate the tension here,

1. You do [B]not[\B] need any audio cables.

2. You do need an IDE or EIDE cable.

3. Your IDE or EIDE Cable will handle the audio. (The audio signal will have to run through your computer instead of directly to the sound card.)

actually both are true

if you don't user either Audio analog, nor Digital wire to your sound card

then the sound has to be processed Digitally by the CPU then by the sound card via IDE

but ifyou want CRYSTAL clean audio, then you should get a Digital Audio wire to hook up your DVD/CD rom to your sound card Digital In plug hole
