This is out of curiosity. I see great variations in cable prices but is there any difference between a standard generic A -> B cable and for example an EPSON A -> B cable.

Are all USB A -> B cables BI-directional?

I would appreciate some input because I'm looking at getting a USB printer in the future - none seem to come with cables.

Don't pay extra for an Epson cable.USB is different from a parallel cable but yes a USB allows bidirectional communication.

Nowadays, parallel printers come with bi-directional cables and you can buy USB cables as an option if the printer supports it...

I just wanted to check that a basic A -> B cable would do because I can get these for about a fifth of the price of an Epson one.

I wasn't sure if all USB cables are Bi-directional.

Thanks
