Hi,

I have just purchased the WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe Capture Card and I am using windows XP.
When I go to install the drivers for this card, my computer just reboots when it's nearly finished installing the drivers. Every time i keep tring it just keeps rebooting. I can't use the card at all.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Thanks,

Alex.

remove all NIC, Modem, Sound Card, etc, etc

if they are onboard, Dissable them in the BIOS

so basically the end result is to only have your AGP Video, and the PCI TV capture card.

turn on the PC and note down the PCI IRQ Table

let it go into windows, and see if everything is ok.

once that's done, re-enable or re-install each card 1 by 1 with a full reboot and detection

that should set the proper IRQ for each device without conflicting them

Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery.

Untick "Automatically restart" and set memory dump to None.

Hopefully, you'll get a blue-screen error with a message next time.

How do u pause the system during the boot up so I can see the IRQ Table, I tried pressing pause and it does nothing.

I'll try this out today.

The IRQ table is in that last half of POST - just press pause. The trouble is that this IRQ table is not the same as Windows. For that one, open System Information (MSINFO32.EXE) and navigate to Hardware Resources > IRQs.

The Tv capture card is IRQ 5 and IRQ 5 is also the on-board sound. So i'm going to try disabling the sound.

Attached is a pic of the BSOD that now pops up.

I disabled the on-board sound but it still has the BSOD.

=> Not enough hard disk space. If this issue occurs after the first restart during Windows Setup, or after Setup is finished, the computer may not have enough available hard disk space on which to run Windows.

31 Gb FREE

=> BIOS incompatibilities. If this issue occurs after the first restart during Windows Setup, or after Setup is complete, the computer BIOS may be incompatible with Windows.

I'm gonna get the lastest bios update now.

=> Incompatible video adapter drivers.

Yeah i think so, cuz my drivers aren't digitally signed. But it's NVIDIA Drivers for WIN XP

=> Damaged Random Access Memory (RAM).

I don't think so.. how do u test for this?

=> A damaged device driver or system service.

I'm sure nothing is damaged.

=> An incompatible third-party remote control program. If the issue is associated with the Win32k.sys file, it may be caused by a third-party remote control program.

Remote control program, i dun think i have any

Ok, I updated my bios and booted to windows.
My USB devices were gone.
I tried to update the drivers/install for the tv tuner card and still the same BSOD.

So even on the tv card box it says designed for Windows XP.

So any other suggestions before i install Win 98 and try that out?

This is more a suggestion than a fix for your current problem. Take the card back if possible and pick up an AverMedia AverTV/Studio (Studio has FM radio and a remote control). I've known quite a few people that have issues with wintv cards. The AverTV Studio card has been solid from the time I installed it.

I have the same card...it's been awhile since I last installed it, but if I'm not mistaken it does reboot during the install.
